At the March

Q. Is this march permitted?
A: Yes, this is a permitted event.

Q: Where is the starting point?
A:  Benton County Courthouse at 1 pm. March to start at 1:30 pm.

Q: Can I bring my kids?
A: The March for Science is a family friendly event.

Q: Do you have ideas for posters?
A: We encourage creative and fun posters that are non-partisan that support science. Bring out your best science puns! This is not intended to attack specific candidates or parties.

Q: What chants are we going to follow?
A: We will have a few chants to introduce at the march.

  1. What do we want? Science! When do we want it? After peer review!
  2. Science not silence
  3. Deny science expect defiance
  4. What do we want? Science! When do we want it? After Peer review!
  5. Science facts, and nothing less!

Q: What am I allowed to bring to the march? What is restricted?
A: The following items will not be permitted:

  • Aerosols
  • Ammunition
  • Animals other than helper/guide dogs
  • Bicycles (restricted in the rally and march areas)
  • Coolers
  • Explosives
  • Firearms
  • Laser pointers
  • Mace / Pepper spray
  • Structures (tents, chairs other than wheelchairs or mobility supports, etc.)
  • Weapons of any kind
  • Any other items determined to be potential safety hazards

What to bring to the March

Q: Can we bring strollers and baby carriers?
A: Yes, you can use baby carriers and strollers.

Q: Can I bring my bicycle to the march?
A: Bikes are not allowed in the rally area or the march route, however, if people are interested in riding a bike to the rally, we highly encourage it.

Q: What should I wear?
A: We advise you check the weather regularly the week leading up to the march. Please plan accordingly and dress for the current temperature.

Q: Is there a single color we can wear to unite us?
A: We are not planning to wear anything in particular - we do encourage science based gear such as lab jackets, brain hats, or green to represent Earth Day.

Services

Q: Are there bathrooms along the course of the march?
A: There will not be bathrooms along the march route.We are currently planning on portable bathrooms and ADA accessible portable bathroom facilities at the rally site.

Q: Are there translation services? 
A: We will be providing ASL interpreter during the rally speeches.

Q: Is there a Corvallis bus route?
A. Yes, we encourage everyone to lower their carbon footprint and avoid parking issues by taking the bus! You can find the route here.

Merchandise

Q: Can I purchase merchandise?
A: Yes! You can purchase merchandise from Bonfire before the March for Science.
